Boston Dynamics has opened a Robotics Metaplant Application Center inside Hyundai Motor Group's Metaplant America campus near Savannah, Georgia, where it says Atlas robots are now training on logistics and parts-sequencing tasks.
The companies say Hyundai plans to deploy 25,000 Atlas units across its global plants over the coming years, and that a new US production facility is planned to build 30,000 robots annually. An expanded application centre, about ten times the size of the current one, is due in 2027, the companies say.
"We're excited to be working with such a dedicated partner," said Zack Jackowski, Boston Dynamics' chief product and technology officer, of the Hyundai collaboration.
