Japanese care-home operator Charm Care invests ¥300m in humanoid maker donut robotics
The two companies are testing donut robotics' cinnamon humanoid in a care home and plan to extend it to care-related tasks such as nurse calls.
Charm Care, which runs more than 100 private nursing homes around Kansai and Greater Tokyo, will subscribe for ¥300 million of new shares in donut robotics, the Japanese robot maker said in an English release on 5 October.
The companies say a cinnamon humanoid has been on trial at one Charm Care facility since July 2026. They plan to extend its use to care-related tasks, including answering nurse calls, while acknowledging that the vision-language-action AI behind such work is at an early stage worldwide.
Donut robotics says its cinnamon 1 stands about 170 cm tall, while cinnamon mini is about 130 cm and weighs around 35 kg. A next-generation cinnamon 2 is due to be announced in autumn 2026, the company says.
