Menlo Research publishes an Apache-licensed Python SDK for its Asimov 1 humanoid

The SDK drives walking, joints, camera and audio over a local or internet link, but sits below the robot's safety layer and has no emergency stop.

Menlo Research has published a Python SDK for Asimov 1 on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 licence. It needs Python 3.12 or newer.

According to the project documentation, scripts can stand, balance and walk the robot, read its state and use the camera and audio. Connection modes are local UDP, a LiveKit room for remote use, or a hybrid of the two.

The SDK is a client of Asimov Edge, the layer that arbitrates between control sources, and the documentation says the Cockpit and a paired gamepad take priority. It warns the SDK is not an emergency stop and advises a first run with the robot on its gantry hook. Menlo has also said it plans to open-source Asimov Edge; no public repository was confirmed at the time of writing.
